The sculpture “Pierre-Georges Latécoère” by Madeleine Tézénas, sculptor from Toulouse, was placed on display a few days ago in the courtyard of the Chateau at Aéropostale museum in Montaudran as part of the “Envol des Pionniers”. The work pays tribute to a great pilot and aviation entrepreneur who, on December 25, 1918, opened the line between Toulouse and Barcelona to launch the adventure of mail and freight.

The work as explained by Madeleine Tézénas du Montcel, sculptor.

At 82, Madeleine Tézénas continues to sculpt. She began this discipline 38 years ago, after her meeting with André Turcat, test pilot of Concorde. He was looking for sculptors for an exhibition he was organising on Saint-Exupéry. The works of Madeleine were chosen. Then followed sculptures of Mermoz and in 1992, Madeleine became the official sculptor for Air and Space. She has also produced many works for the city of Toulouse including the lions of the Boulbonne fountain or the Little Prince for the Royal Garden.
