A look back at the conference “Towards Unmanned Ships and Aircraft?”
On 9 and 10 December 2019, a conference on the automation and autonomy of ships and aircraft was held at the Military School in Paris: “Towards unmanned ships and aircraft? To what extent can machines replace humans?”, organized in partnership with the Naval Academy and under the leadership of a program committee co-chaired by Jean-Paul TROADEC (titular member and president of Section 3 of the Air and Space Academy) and Yves DESNO-S (President of the Naval Academy). In the great Joffre amphitheatre of the Military School, in front of an audience of 200 people, some thirty speakers presented the technological perspectives, the expectations of the operators, the security and cyber security issues, the dimension and the legal aspects of these developments towards increasing automation and, in some cases, autonomy.
The Air and Space Academy thanks the partners (Airbus, Armateurs de France, DLR GfR mbH, iXblue, Naval Group, OSAC, Air and Space Meeting) and the support of this event (Academy of Technology, Transport Circle, French Maritime Cluster, DGAC, ENAC Alumni, FNAM, GICAN, IFM, INCOSE) as well as participants and speakers whose interventions provided exciting insights into the issues raised by these developments.
