Tribute to General Glavany

On Saturday 23 March 2019, at 11:00, at the entrance to 2 rue Claude Matrat in Issy-les-Moulineaux, André Santini (mayor), Christine Helary-Olivier (deputy mayor), Jean Glavany (former minister) and his brother Michel, unveiled a plaque in memory of General Roland Glavany, honorary president of the “Comité du Souvenir Français” at Issy-les-Moulineaux and Vanves for nearly a decade, and AAE member.

The plaque contains the following inscription:

“Air Corps General Roland Glavany (1922-2017), Grand Cross of the Légion d’honneur. During the second world war, he participated in the liberation of the islands of Corsica and Elba and then the landing in Provence with the 1st Battalion of Shock . He was wounded four times. A test pilot, he was the first to reach Mach II in Europe on Mirage III A01 in October 1958. He lived in this building with his wife Monique from 1957 to 2017.

Michel and Jean Glavany gave small speeches. Then it was the turn of André Santini, former minister, mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux and vice-president of Greater Paris…
