Tribute to Lieutenant SAGET, founding member of the AAE

We learned with great sorrow the death of our colleague and founding member, Lieutenant Jean-Marie SAGET, which occurred on March 20, 2020

Graduate of the Air School (1949), Jean-Marie Saget became a fighter pilot in the French Air Force. There he trained on De Havilland Vampire, before being assigned to “Ouragan” at the “Côte d’Or” Fighter Squadron from 1952 to 1955.

In August 1954, he was hired by Marcel Dassault and became a test pilot, then chief pilot at the Marcel Dassault Aircraft Company from 1955 to 1989 where he participated in the tests of all Dassault fighter aircraft.

He will be responsible for the Etendard IVM, Mirage III V, Mirage F1, Mirage G8, Alphajet and Mirage 4000 programs, and was also technical and operational advisor to the Marcel Dassault Aircraft Company from 1989 to 1992. It will total more than 20,000 flying hours on 150 types of aircraft.

In retirement, Jean-Marie Saget devoted himself to the Aero-club of Nangis, which he presided over, hosting “Dassault-Voltige” and training many pilots on CAP 10.”

A tribute will be paid to him at an upcoming session of the Academy.
