It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Jean-François Georges, which occurred on the morning of Saturday, May 11. Born on October 7, 1940, Mr. Georges was a great figure in the world of aeronautics.

A Supaéro engineer (64), his career at Dassault Aviation was emblematic. As Managing Director of Dassault’s Civil Aircraft, he left his mark on the aeronautics industry. But beyond his professional achievements, Jean-François Georges was a man of many facets.

A skilled pilot, a passionate mountaineer, a talented musician, a jazz conductor, a composer and a writer in his spare time, he embodied versatility and creativity. His presence at the Aéroclub de France on rue Galilée was a constant.

His passion for innovation, combined with his unparalleled expertise, open-mindedness and vision for the future, have left a deep impression on all those who have had the chance to work with him. His death leaves a huge void in the aviation community.

Recognized for his exceptional contributions, Jean-François Georges was an Officer of the National Order of Merit and proudly wore the Medal of Aeronautics.

At this time of mourning, our thoughts are with his family, loved ones and all those whose lives were touched by his generosity, talent and passion for flying.

Jean-François Georges will forever remain in our hearts as a source of inspiration and a model of dedication to aeronautics. A tribute will be paid to him at an upcoming session of the Academy.
