It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our colleague André Motet, honorary member of Section 2 and co-chairman of the Academy’s Defense Commission from 2002 to 2008.
André Motet, former Deputy Director of Aerospatiale’s Strategic Systems Division, was a renowned engineer and an emblematic figure of the French aerospace industry.
During his career, André Motet made a remarkable contribution to the aerospace industry and national defence, with notable achievements in the fields of propulsion, missile systems and space launchers. He received numerous honours, including the Legion of Honour, the National Order of Merit and the Aeronautics Medal.
His death is a great loss for the French aerospace industry and for all those who knew and respected him.
We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
The Academy will pay tribute to him at its meeting on 15 June.
