Tribute to Remo Pellichero

It is with regret that our colleague Remo PELLICHERO, former correspondent of Section 4 (from 2012 to 2019), passed away on 30 December 2019 at the age of 76.

Below is Gérard Fouilloux’s tribute to the private session of the academy held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the “The Flight of the Pioneers” museum. This tribute traces The brilliant professional career of Remo PELLICHERO, who has been characterized by his tireless work and his qualities of the heart.

“Who passed away on December 30, 2019, Remo Pellichero was a recognized, respected, and well-liked person.

Born on 21/12/1943 in Valdegno, Italy, and a civil engineer graduate from the Polytechnic Faculty of Mons, he joined the SABCA group in the 1990s after a career at ACEC. He quickly became CEO of SABCA, and Chairman of the Board when he retired in 2009.

During all these years, Remo has been a key player in many developments and developments in the Belgian aerospace, defence, and space industries. Remo was also a member of numerous professional organizations, including, among others, a director of the Walloon Union of Companies, a director of Arianespace, Bruspace, Belgospace, Agoria and BSDI. He also played a role in the advisory bodies of the University of Mons.

His warm, pleasant character, and at the same time great captain of industry have earned him the respect of all, and even of the social partners, with whom he nevertheless had long discussions … He had a direct tone, a lot of relevance in his remarks, with a pragmatic industrial profile, far from sometimes political considerations.

Elected correspondent of our Academy in 2012 in its section 4, Remo Pellichero contributed to the academy’s activities by offering an overview of the space industry in Belgium for the AAE Letter, and by supporting the cycle of conferences in Brussels, before retiring from the Academy in early 2019.

Remo had the discretion and tact to leave us gently, in the quiet between Christmas and New Year, in his own way.
