By Michel Wachenheim, President of the Air and Space Academy

The lecture will present the conclusions of the conference “Air transport in crisis and the climate challenge” organised by the Air and Space Academy in March 2021, along with recommendations published recently in the form of an Opinion. After highlighting the climate challenges for air transport, the speaker will present the technological evolutions likely to help achieve carbon neutrality of air transport over the whole cycle. He will then address the operational issues of air transport, including infrastructure and the need for effective international harmonisation, concluding with a discussion of the changing role of air transport within society.
