Catherine Maunoury promoted to Commander of the Legion of Honour
Catherine Maunoury, from an early age, had a passion for airplanes, passed on by her father, who was a doctor and pilot. Thanks to his support and determination, Catherine MAUNOURY became the youngest licensed pilot at the age of 17, while obtaining a master’s degree in philosophy. Her willpower, his taste for flying and her perseverance in training have earned her, among others, ten french aerobatics titles and two world champion titles: in 1988 at Red Deer Airfield, Alberta (Canada) and in 2000 in Muret. She then withdrew from the competition to devote herself to air show and then to the management of the Air and Space Museum. President of the Aero-Club de France since 2016 she is now a leading figure in French aviation.
His actions have been rewarded with the Icare Prize, two medals from the Air and Space Academy and the Centenary Medal of the International Aeronautical Federation.
Promoted on 1st January to the rank of Commander in the Order of the Legion of Honour, she is also Commander of the National Order of Merit, Knight of Arts and Letters and holder of the Aeronautics Medal.
