A 35 year career with Rolls-Royce in posts that included Engineering, Marketing, Commercial and Business Planning culminating as director of Business Development for the Aerospace Group. In 1997 appointed director general of the Society of British Aerospace Companies, the SBAC, and secretary to the Defence Industries Council. Founded Launchpad for Learning, a charity aimed at the education and appreciation of young people regarding Science and Engineering. Retired from full time employment in 2003 and was a founder member of MMO Associates. Joined the Council of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2003 and was elected to president for 2007/2003 and elected President of CEAS for 20010 to 20012. Appointed CBE in 2003 and made a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers in 1999.
