Dossier No.28 – Airline Safety

The Air and Space Academy has always played an active role in promoting safety in aeronautics, organising conferences and forums and publishing several dossiers on this essential theme. The Academy considers safety aspects from a global point of view, taking into account all elements of the air transport system.

Recently the Air and Space Academy commissioned its Section 4 to look into ways of assessing the safety level of air carriers. How can airline operations be improved so as to achieve a constant increase in safety? How can all carriers, especially those at the tail end of the pack, be encouraged to catch up with the front runners?

The present dossier aims to provide some answers to these crucial questions.
