On December 9, 2023, in a ceremony full of emotion and solemnity, the Mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, had the honor of awarding the insignia of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres to our Madeleine Tézenas-du-Montcel, sculptor and member of our Academy.

The reception room of the Hôtel de Ville was lit up by the presence of artists, friends and members of Toulouse’s cultural community, all gathered to celebrate this well-deserved distinction. Madeleine Tézenas-du-Montcel, recognized for her exceptional talent in the field of sculpture, was honoured for her significant contribution to arts and culture.

Mayor Moudenc, in his laudatory speech, highlighted the artist’s exceptional creativity, praising his commitment to the cultural enrichment of the Pink City. “Madeleine Tézenas-du-Montcel has captivated our minds and moved our hearts through her unique and inspiring work. By awarding him the insignia of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, we recognize his undeniable impact on the artistic heritage of Toulouse and beyond” said the mayor.

The recipient, moved and honoured, expressed her gratitude to the local artistic community and shared her love for the city that has been the scene of many of her creations. “Receiving this award in my adopted city is a moment of great pride. Toulouse is a constant source of inspiration, and I am grateful to be able to contribute to its artistic legacy“, said Madeleine Tézenas-du-Montcel.
