Climate change increases people’s exposure to risks in general and hydrometeorological risks in particular. Since the beginning of the space age, satellites have played an important role in managing risks and major disasters. The two speakers will describe the information provided by satellites before, during and after a natural disaster according to the type of risk. Following a presentation of the operational use of satellites in combination with other data sources, this role will be illustrated more specifically in the case of floods and flash floods.
