Conference as part of the “Scroll!” 2025 Festival organized by Toulouse Metropole.

By Roland Lehoucq, astrophysicist at CEA Saclay

Space travel is a favorite theme in science fiction. Some films, like Star Wars or Star Trek, feature fabulous spaceships that take you from planet to planet like a bus. Others, like Avatar, show more plausible spaceships. They all make us dream, even if we know that interstellar travel is a long way off. So what’s basically stopping us from traveling to the stars?

After the conference, Roland Lehoucq will be available for book signings. The Librairie de la Renaissance will be present at the entrance to the conference, selling Roland Lehoucq’s books.
