By Cyril CAVEL, former JUICE project manager, Airbus Defence and Space and Olivier WITASSE, JUICE project scientist, European Space Agency

JUICE, a major project of the European Space Agency, is a satellite built by Airbus Defense & Space and scheduled for lift-off in April 2023 to reach Jupiter in July 2031. The mission aims to study in detail the giant planet and three of its largest moons Ganymede, Callisto and Europa. In this animated presentation, Cyril Cavel and Olivier Witasse will talk about this ambitious project, its history, development, launch, scientific stakes, technical, programmatic and human challenges, and its complex trajectory. They will also report on the first months of the cruise phase, including the combined Moon-Earth flyby in August 2024.
