As part of the “Rendez-vous Espace” 2024 lecture series organized by the Association des Amis de la Cité de l’espace in partnership with the Cité de l’espace, the Académie de l’air et de l’espace and 3AF.

Lecture (in french) by Michel EYMARD, former Technical Director of the Safran group, former Director of Launchers at CNES and member of the Académie de l’air et de l’espace.

Ariane 6 successfully completed its first launch on July 9. Ariane 5 had bowed out a year earlier, at the end of a 27-year career studded with successes, emblematic missions and trials that were sometimes difficult to overcome. Ariane’s thread has never been broken since the 1970s, despite the technical, political and economic pitfalls.

What were the major milestones in this European epic? What has guided the major technological and design choices and missions of the Ariane family of launchers? What does the future hold for launchers in Europe? These are just some of the questions Michel Eymard will address during this conference.
