DESCRIPTION:By Jean-Pierre Luminet\, CNRS Emeritus Research Director\, Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille\, corresponding member of AAE \nA large part of the plot of the famous science-fiction film Interstellar (2014) features several aspects of Einstein’s theory and its extensions: wormholes\, black holes\, distortions of space and time\, string theory\, unification of physics. In this lecture\, which follows the film script step by step\, all these astrophysical themes are deciphered one by one with rigor and clarity. At the end\, or after closing J.-P. Luminet’s book\, you’ll no doubt want to watch the film again to better understand and appreciate it! \nFollowing the conference\, Jean-Pierre Luminet will be available for book signings.
