SUMMARY:Humanity's search for its origins in the age of the James Webb Space Telescope
DESCRIPTION:Lecture in french by Sylvie Vauclair\, astrophysicist\, emeritus university professor\, fellow of AAE \nSince the dawn of mankind\, human beings have sought to understand the world in which they live and to situate themselves in relation to it. Science and technology have led to spectacular advances that have challenged old ideas and overturned humanity’s view of itself in relation to the cosmos. (lecture given in french) After all the discoveries made by the Hubble Space Telescope\, the JWST is a new stepping stone in this search for our origins. \n\n Free registration required \nRegistrations are closed. \n\nConference organized as part of the Journées Nationales de l’Ingénieur 2025 (JNI – National Engineering Days 2025) \n\n\n\n\nEn partenariat avec \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nL’AQUI-IHEDN s’associe à ce cycle de conférences\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[Crédit image] ©NASA\, ESA\, CSA

SUMMARY:Pollution: everything we can see\, understand and monitor from space
DESCRIPTION:By Cathy Clerbaux\, Director of Research at CNRS\, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences\, member of AAE\n \n\n The media regularly report that the state of the atmosphere is getting worse\, and that man is primarily responsible. Over the past twenty years or so\, scientists have had access to an impressive array of observations (particularly by satellite). Was the air purer before? Is France a highly polluted country? How can we tell the difference between pollutants and greenhouse gases? Does pollution “cool” the climate? In this presentation\, we’ll take a look at what satellites can tell us. \n \n[image] © D. R. \n\n\n Free admission in the limit of available seats.\n \n\n \n In partnership with:\n \n \n
