SUMMARY:Air and Space Days
DESCRIPTION:During the Air and Space Days\, the Swiss Museum of Transport \, in collaboration with associations\, collectors and partners\, presents projects and objects from the world of aeronautics and aerospace. \nTheme days offer a multitude of opportunities to take an interest in aeronautics and aerospace. Whether it’s information about the profession of pilot\, guided tours of the cockpit or the discovery of different aircraft\, the world of aviation is at the heart of these days. \nYou’ll also be able to admire the impressive collection of aircraft deployed on site and take part in immersive activities specially designed for budding young aviators. \nThe Academy will be represented on the Stand of the Swissair Association forever and Jean-Paul Morel\, correspondent of our Academy. \n\n\n Prices: Day pass adults 62 fr.\, students up to 26 years old 46 fr.\, young people (6-16 years old) 29 fr.\, children (0-6 years old) 12 fr.

SUMMARY:Ariane's thread The epic of European launchers: milestones and prospects
DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Rendez-vous Espace” 2024 lecture series organized by the Association des Amis de la Cité de l’espace in partnership with the Cité de l’espace\, the Académie de l’air et de l’espace and 3AF. \nLecture (in french) by Michel EYMARD\, former Technical Director of the Safran group\, former Director of Launchers at CNES and member of the Académie de l’air et de l’espace. \nAriane 6 successfully completed its first launch on July 9. Ariane 5 had bowed out a year earlier\, at the end of a 27-year career studded with successes\, emblematic missions and trials that were sometimes difficult to overcome. Ariane’s thread has never been broken since the 1970s\, despite the technical\, political and economic pitfalls. \nWhat were the major milestones in this European epic? What has guided the major technological and design choices and missions of the Ariane family of launchers? What does the future hold for launchers in Europe? These are just some of the questions Michel Eymard will address during this conference. \n* Registration required

SUMMARY:Decarbonising Air Transport: a question of energy
DESCRIPTION:This lecture dedicated to “Decarbonising Air Transport: a question of energy” and organised by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio (ETSIAE) and the Air and Space Academy\, AAE.  With the support of TEDAE y de AIAE \nAviation did not wait until 2023 to start decarbonising. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has set a target of “net zero” CO2 emissions by 2050. The European Union also recently set a target of climate neutrality by replacing kerosene with sustainable\, CO2-neutral fuels by 2050. The entire industry has become aware of the role it must play in meeting the climate challenge\, with the aim of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. The use of sustainable fuels and carbon capture and storage are some of the measures to reach that goal. However\, the quantities of decarbonised electricity required for air transport are likely to be insufficient to meet the considerable energy needs of European society. \n \n\n\nProgramme\n\n\nOpening address by Dr. Gustavo Alonso\, Director ETSIAE\nThe AIr and Space Academy by Dr. Antonio Viñolo\, AAE Honorary Member.\nIntroduction of the speaker\nDecarbonising Air Transport: a question of energy by Mr. Michel Wachenheim\, AAE President.\nQuestions and answers\nClosure of the conference by Dr. Gustavo Alonso\, Director ETSIAE\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\nIn partnership with\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith the support

SUMMARY:Towards an exploration of the Moon that respects its environment
DESCRIPTION:By Michel Blanc\, Professor Emeritus\, IRAP\, University of Toulouse\, Chair of the COSPAR “Panel on Exploration”\, fellow of the AAE \nLunar exploration is the first step towards future human missions to Mars. It also has its own objectives: scientific research\, exploitation of local resources\, services for astronauts\, and perhaps even tourism. \nAt a time of increased environmental awareness on our own planet\, space agencies and private actors\, with the help of various international organizations\, must build together\, under the auspices of the United Nations\, a balanced\, equitable and sustainable use of lunar resources that will preserve for future generations the common heritage of humanity on the Moon. \n\n\n Free admission in the limit of available seats.\n \n\n In partnership with:\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n [image] © PAVER team\, visual: LIQUIFER
