SUMMARY:From the origin of the Universe to the origin of life
DESCRIPTION:Due to the speaker’s unavailability\, the conference scheduled for this date on “The Sun Our Star: Threats and Promises” is postponed and replaced by this conference. \nPresented by Sylvie Vauclair\, professor emeritus at the University of Toulouse\, honorary member of the University Institute of France\, astrophysicist at the Institute for Research in Astrophysics and Planetology (IRAP\, Observatory Midi-Pyrenees)\, member of the Air and Space Academy. \nWhen we told the story of Man\, we reasoned in terms of centuries or millennia. The history of Universe is recounted in billions of years. But\, even more than this temporal vertigo\, it is the appearance of the living that fascinates scientists\, the transition of raw matter to the organized being able to reproduce and adapt to its environment. This is the mystery that Sylvie Vauclair tries to capture here\, by synthesising the great results of cosmology and those relating to the emergence of life\, to understand how time\, space and complexity weave the fabric of the history of matter\, even if she thought. We are much more than “stardust”! We are very complex and gifted beings of reason\, but also condemned to the ephemeral. “Breathing\, breathing\, active punctuation – a comma in space-time. \nOn this occasion\, the Renaissance Bookstore\, which will be present\, will offer you the book “De l’origine de l’Univers à l’origine de la vie” and will set up a book of signings of Mrs Sylvie Vauclair for those who wish.\nFree admission in the limit of available seats. \n\nIn partnership with: \n \nImage credit: MPIA/NASA/Calar Alto Observatory

SUMMARY:Rafale: programme and innovations
DESCRIPTION:Photographs and recordings will not be allowed \nby Jean-Claude Hironde\, former Rafale technical director at Dassault Aviation\, AAE member \nThe Rafale programme\, spearhead of French national Defence\, will be presented in its complete cycle\, from upstream studies to delivery to the French Navy and Air Force. \nThe specifications of the Rafale programme are very ambitious: by itself\, the new aircraft must replace six different aircraft currently in service in the French Army. \nIt was necessary to imagine a new configuration capable of satisfying all naval and air specifications. Interception and close combat missions\, which require high agility and high Mach flights\, have led to the optimisation of revolutionary air intakes. Now widely deployed in operational theatres\, the Rafale has shown its efficiency and reliability in combat\, demonstrating its technological maturity and export capability. \nThe conference will take place in two parts: \n\n\n\n6pm-7pm: Presentation\n7pm-8pm: Questions/Answers\n\n\n\n  \n Free entry\, obligatory registration \nRegistrations are closed. no more places available. \n\nIn partnership with: \n \nAQUI-IHEDN and the Mollat Bookstore join this cycle of conferences.

SUMMARY:Planetary Exploration\, Horizon 2061
DESCRIPTION:Why Horizon 2061?\n\n2061 will be the centennial of the first human space flight and of President Kennedy’s Moon address to Congress\n2061 will see the return of comet P/Halley in the inner solar system\, reminding us of the international fleet of spacecraft which flew by it in 1986 !\n\nThus\, 2061 is a symbolic date choice which allows us to connect robotic and manned exploration  in the same\, single perspective ! \n“Planetary Exploration\, Horizon 2061” is a long-term foresight exercise initially proposed by the Air and Space Academy and led by scientists\, engineers and technology experts heavily involved in planetary sciences and in the space exploration of the Solar System. Its ultimate objective is to draw up to the 2061 horizon a long-term picture of the four pillars of planetary exploration: \n\nour major scientific questions on planetary systems;\nthe different types of space missions that we need to fly to address these questions;\nthe key technologies we need to master to make these missions flyable;\nthe ground-based and space-based infrastructures needed in support to these missions.\n\nThe year 2061 symbolically represents our intention to encompass both robotic and human exploration in the same perspective. Its distant horizon\, located well beyond the usual horizons of the planning exercises of space agencies\, avoids any possible confusion with them and is intended to “free the imaginations” : imaginations of planetary scientists\, who are invited to formulate what they think are the most relevant and important scientific questions independently of the a priori technical possibility of answering them ;  imaginations of engineers and technology experts\, who are invited to contribute to the exercise by looking for innovative technical solutions that will make it possible to fly the challenging space missions that will allow us to address these questions. \nFour main objectives can be reached via this dialogue between scientists and engineers: \n\nIdentify the technologies and infrastructures that will be needed to address our major scientific questions;\nprovide a broad spectrum of national space missions of diverse sizes and complexity levels all contributing to address these questions;\ninspire coordination and collaborations between the different players of planetary exploration to better meet technology challenges and fly these missions;\nshare with the public and public/private leaders the major scientific questions and technological challenges of planetary exploration.\n\nThe “Horizon 2061” exercise involves three successive steps designed to progressively build the three pillars. Its third step\, the “Horizon 2061 synthesis workshop“\, will be hosted by IAS in Toulouse from September 11th to 13th\, 2019. Its tentative conclusions will be presented for discussion at the joint EPSC-DPS meeting in Geneva (September 15th to 20th\, 2019)\, and later for discussion and final approval at the COSPAR General Assembly (Sydney\, August 15th to 23rd\, 2020). \n\n\n\nMore information on : www.horizon2061.cnrs.fr

SUMMARY:Industrial excellence at the service of a new programme
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Michel DEWERDT\, Director of the Toulouse Establishment\, Airbus Operations SAS \nThe success of a new aircraft programme such as the A350XWB depends on a very large number of factors. In a context of technological change\, strong competition and production ramp ups\, industrial excellence is one of the keys to this success. With its order book representing several years of production\, the A350XWB also represents the success of a wider ecosystem including our customers and partners\, but also the contributions of different institutions. At this lecture we will discuss the factors contributing to this success\, which guarantee the highest level of quality\, excellence and customer service. \nAdmission free\, registration required (in the limit of available seats.) \nOops! SUMMARY:Reusable space systems: 1687-2019
DESCRIPTION:Lecture cancelled\nTheir real story : a longer and different history than what is known.\nLecture by Pascal Bultel\, Expert at CNES\, former airline world engineer and historian. \nSPACEX performed a number of premiers since 2015 : first recovery of a commercial reusable launcher\, first recovery at sea\, first reflight\, first flight of a multi reusable booster vehicle. This sheds light on advanced space launchers more than ever before and pushes to think that reusability is a pretty recent event. Which is far from the truth. Which is far from the truth. \nAdvanced means to reach space were imagined way before the Space Shuttle performed its maiden flight in 1981. Isaac Newton himself open the field when publishing Philosophiae naturalis principia mathematica in 1687. The book contains the first scientific description of what earth orbit is and how reaching it with a reusable mean. Some two centuries later Konstantin Tsiolkovski was on the same line\, working on reusable aerospace concepts. When finally becoming reality in the late 1950s / early 1960s space travel soon produced a large number of reusable concepts that took decades to mature. The most popular is the FALCON 9 which relies on roots firmly established by Philip Bono\, a Douglas Corp. engineer as soon as 1959. \nThe presentation will describe how advanced launchers and suborbital vehicles evolved over a three century period. This large overview will give participants the necessary keys to understand present and futures development efforts.

SUMMARY:Chang'e\, or the call of the Moon
DESCRIPTION:From legend to reality\, the Chinese Moon exploration programme. \nLecture by Linli GUO\, Chief Engineer at the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST). \nModerated by Michel BLANC\, astronomer\, IRAP/Midi-Pyrénées Observatory\, UPS-CNRS; Executive Director\, International Space Science Institute in Beijing\, AAE Member . Organised in partnership with the Air and Space Academy and IRAP/OMP/CNRS as part of “2019: the Moon in all its states!” \nThe call of the moon has existed in Chinese culture since ancient times\, with the legend of the beautiful Chang’e\, Goddess of the Moon\, whose flight to this satellite is celebrated every autumn. Today\, with the extraordinary expansion of the Chinese space exploration programme\, reality has already surpassed fiction: after Chang’e 4 which in January proceeded to a successful first landing on the hidden side\, China aims to bring back rock samples this year\, and then to explore the poles of our satellite in order to assess its resources. In the 2030s\, the goal is to transport a new wave of astronauts to the Moon\, and then to establish a visitable base. Linli GUO\, who played an important role in the design of the future Chinese lunar bases\, will recount this fascinating space adventure with the collaboration of Michel Blanc\, astrophysicist at IRAP and AAE member. \nFree admission (reservation recommended by clicking here) \n\nPhoto credit: © CNSA

SUMMARY:Space in the service of defence: issues and threats
DESCRIPTION:by Gal. Bernard Molard\, former defence and security adviser to the President of EADS Astrium\, AAE member \nThis lecture will be presented in cooperation with the AQUI-IHEDN. \nNavigating in the desert\, firing a bomb at a target\, or communicating in the open sea… In a few years satellites have become indispensable to the smooth operation of military operations. In December 2018\, France launched the first satellite of the CSO component\, the first in a series of three\, offering exceptional optical observation capabilities. The same can be said for communications systems. European cooperative initiatives are becoming more and more precise\, enabling information to be exchanged and means supplemented (Germany\, Belgium\, Sweden\, Italy…). \nPresident Trump has decided to create a sixth branch of the U.S. Army in charge of coordinating American space activities; China is asserting its political position and in parallel proceeding to many launches. This shows how essential the space component has become in our operational systems. \nBut in space these structures are vulnerable to many threats: recent incidents have demonstrated this through attempts at intimidation\, forcing our government to take very firm positions. Our speaker will present all of these issues and show how important the space component has become to our defence strategy. \nFree entry\, obligatory registration \n\nIn partnership with. \n \nAQUI-IHEDN and Mollat Bookstore support this lecture cycle

SUMMARY:The Helicopter in France\, from its beginnings to the present day
DESCRIPTION:It was in France\, in 1907\, that the earliest attempts to fly “helicopter” type aircraft took place. It would then take nearly 30 years of research and testing to ensure that this complicated concept reached industrial stage\, and 20 years more for the precursors of a future European helicopter industry to emerge. Today\, rotary wing aircraft are indispensable in both civilian and military applications. France continues to play a major role in this sector. \nThree lectures illustrate the historical and technical aspects of this saga. Their authors\, AAE members\, are former executives of Eurocopter\, now Airbus Helicopters . \nThe beginnings of the helicopter industry in France\nby Jean-Pierre Dubreuil\, former director of Programmes at Eurocopter\, AAE member \nThe helicopter in all its guises…\nby Michel Hancart\, former technical director at Eurocopter\, AAE member \nAn “Ecureuil” at the top of Everest: story of an unbeatable record\nby Bernard Fouques\, former director of flight tests at Eurocopter\, AAE member \n  \nFree admission in the limit of available seats

Presented in preview at La Coupole and inaugurated on October 19\, 2018 in the presence of the main partners of the project and the families of deportees\, it prefigures a much more substantial exhibition that will be organised in 2020 on the occasion of the 75 years of the end of the Nazi concentration camp system and Mittelbau-Dora. \n“Children from Buschdorf” (film France Télévision – 46 minutes)\nA film by Anne-Sophie Chaumier Leconte\, Carole Filippi\, Oktay Senghul and Nicolas Ducrot. From May 15 to 31-continuous \n“Ulrich\, Christel\, Rüdiger or Ewald were young children in 1948. Without understanding why\, they leave a devastated Germany for France\, with their families. In Vernon\, a village in Normandy\, they benefit from preferential treatment\, are well housed and fed. Far from their roots\, living almost in autarchy\, the children recreate an imaginary world in the Woods: the Republic of Buschdorf… But who are they? Their story is unbelievable. Their fathers are all engineers of the Third Reich who worked on the very first ballistic missile: the famous v2. In secret\, France recovered them to design the first French rockets. With the testimony of these children and the unpublished archives of their fathers\, we reveal one of the most unknown stories of the post-war period. “ \n\nFree entry \n\nThis event is organised at the Cité de l’espace by les Amis de la Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Déportation (Délégation 31) with the support of ONAC\, La Coupole\, les Amis de la Cité de l’espace\, 3AF\, AAE and CNES. \nLearn more about “2019: the Moon in all its aspects!”

SUMMARY:Mars Direct: A Practical Approach for Near-Term Human Mars Missions
DESCRIPTION:Lecture by Dr. Robert Zubrin\, President of both the Mars Society and Pioneer Astronautics\, author. \nThis lecture investigates means for achieving human expeditions to Mars utilizing existing or near-term technology. \nThe mission plan described here\, Mars Direct is accomplished with tandem direct launches of payloads to Mars using the upper stages of the heavy lift booster used to lift the payloads to orbit. No on-orbit assembly of large interplanetary spacecraft is required. In situ-propellant production of CH4/O2 and H2O on the Martian surface is used to reduce return propellant and surface consumable requirements\, and thus total mission mass and cost. Chemical combustion powered ground vehicles are employed to afford the surface mission with the high degree of mobility required for an effective exploration program. \nData is presented showing why medium-energy conjunction class trajectories are optimal for piloted missions\, and mission analysis is given showing what technologies are optimal for each of the missions primary maneuvers. The optimal crew size and composition for initial piloted Mars missions is presented\, along with a proposed surface systems payload manifest. The back-up plans and abort philosophy of the mission plans are described. An end to end point design for the Mars Direct mission using a Saturn V-equivalent launch vehicle is presented and options for further evolution of the point design are discussed. It is concluded that the Mars Direct plans offers a viable option for robust piloted Mars missions employing near-term technology capable of creating a sustained human presence on the Red Planet. Such a mission could be launched within the early 21st Century. \n  \nA Round Table will follow the lecture

SUMMARY:Rotary wing aircraft for passenger transport by 2050
DESCRIPTION:By Jean-Pierre Dubreuil\, former Secretary General of the Eurocopter Group\, Member of AAE \nRotary wing aircraft have some specific properties that make them suitable\, even essential\, for a wide range of missions. However\, they are hampered by certain aspects mainly linked to the aircraft itself which researchers are endeavouring to correct. his lecture describes the mainly technical solutions that would enable helicopters to increase their share of the passenger transport market. After highlighting a complex set of problems faced by passenger transport by rotorcraft\, the possibility of an evolution capable of generating new growth will be discussed.

SUMMARY:Peer Support. Managing the Expectations : Where Control is fair and Trust is just
DESCRIPTION:By Flight Captain Hans Rahmann\, Director Mayday Foundation\, former Lufthansa pilot \nResults of the Task Force after the GermanWings Accident in 2015 led to new EASA Regulations. These have to be implemented by August 2020. \nOne of their main focusses is based on Peer Support Programmes (PSP). EPPSI\, being part of the advisory body\, supported EASA with expertise from running PSPs for 25+ years. \nThe expectations of the public and the industry need a realistic consideration: \nWhat are prerequisites of PSPs\, what is lifelike\, what can be achieved\, how? \nWhat is wishful thinking\, where are limits? \n\nIn partnership with:

SUMMARY:Entretiens de Toulouse 2019 (Toulouse Encounters)
DESCRIPTION:The principle\nThis training course is organised around thematic encounters spread over 4 half-days. \nThe participant chooses: 4 half-day encounters from the 14 areas of discussion and 56 interviews proposed and builds their “customised” training course over 2 days. \nEach encounter brings together up to 30 people. One or more recognised experts present the topic of the encounter for about 30 minutes\, before exchanges with the audience and debate. Members of the Air and Space Academy play the role of moderators\, thus ensuring the quality of the discussions. \nTo prepare these encounters\, the experts’ contributions are grouped into a book\, which is sent one month beforehand to registered participants. Each person can choose the encounter (or encounters) they wish to participate in and prepare the questions they would like to ask\, either in advance via this website or directly during the encounter. \nNo report of the discussions will be published afterwards\, in order to guarantee industrial confidentiality. \nThe ambition of the Encounters\nInitiated by the Air and Space Academy\, in partnership with Collège de Polytechnique\, the Entretiens de Toulouse have three purposes: \n\nTo bring together all aerospace stakeholders\,\nTo facilitate mutual understanding and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge to all these actors\,\nTo contribute to exchanges between SMEs\, major groups\, prime contractors and research centres.\n\nIt is therefore a scientific training course drawing on innovative pedagogic techniques based on exchange in which participants are introduced to other areas of expertise and enrich their networks. \nThe Toulouse encounters are the result of a collaboration between industrialists – prime contractors\, systems integrators\, and SMEs – and research centres. \nBased on priority R & D themes\, key technologies and their perspectives\, this event helps to ensure greater synergy between actors of all ages and different professions. \nFor more information visit the Entretiens de Toulouse website

SUMMARY:New ideas about dark matter
DESCRIPTION:Lecture presented by Françoise COMBES\, French Académie des Sciences\, Bureau des longitudes\, College de France\, Observatoire de Paris \nThe problem of missing mass in the universe\, on a scale of galaxies\, of large structures\, and especially of overall content\, is a multi-faceted enigma. Since 1985\, we know that this matter is non-baryonic and does not exist in the standard particle model. The main candidate is the neutralino\, the most stable neutral particle in the hierarchy of super-symmetrical particles. However\, supersymmetry does not appear as expected in the LHC experiments at CERN. Many other models have flourished in recent years\, we will describe the main: axions\, superfluid matter\, condensate of Bose-Einstein\, sterile neutrinos\, modified gravity… \nFree entry within the limit of available seats \n\nIn collaboration with the Department of Geosciences\, Ecole Normale Superieure.

SUMMARY:In search of life on the habitable exoplanets
DESCRIPTION:by Jean-Loup Bertaux\, Director of Research emeritus at the CNRS at the Laboratoire LATMOS\, associated with the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin\, member of the Academy of Air and space. \nAre we alone in the universe ? This question was until now in the realm of speculation and science fiction. With the revolution of exoplanets\, she fell into the realm of science. Opportunities to detect traces of life and / or traces of advanced technology will be discussed. A plan will be proposed to try to reach this new frontier for humanity that would be the location of our closest neighbors. As “they” can detect us\, we must be able to detect them too. \nIn partner with : \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Library Mollat joins this Conference cycle

SUMMARY:Airports of the Future
DESCRIPTION:By Marc Noyelle\, former deputy CEO of Aeroports de Paris and president of ADPI\, Member of AAE. \nMost “Airports of the Future” (by 2060) will actually be today’s 500 largest airports\, strongly adapted to support growth (tripling of the number of passengers) and to offer better services. Fewer than 100 new airports will be built\, mainly in Asia. They will need long runways as today\, for energy efficiency. \nNew services are forecast in many fields: security\, baggage handling\, air traffic control\, landside access\, etc. Airports will no longer be places benefiting outsiders alone\, but will represent added value and jobs\, making them more easily acceptable.

SUMMARY:Gaia Mission: keys to the Milky Way
DESCRIPTION:By François Mignard\, research director emeritus CNRS\, member of the Bureau des longitudes \nOn April 25\, 2018\, ESA and the European consortium DPAC delivered the second version of the results produced by Gaia satellite observations. By the diversity of data\, their volume and especially the extreme precision of astrometry and photometry\, it is an important date in the history of astronomy that has been written. The history of the Milky Way is at the center of this space mission and I will explain why astronomers have been working so hard for over two centuries to track stellar distances and the reasons that have led Europe to want to do so. for a billion stars in our galaxy. \n\nAdmission free within the limits of available places. \n

SUMMARY:The exploration of the giant gas planets: Saturn and Jupiter
DESCRIPTION:This conference will take place in two parts. The great discoveries of the US-European mission Cassini-Huygens\, which explored Saturn and its procession of satellites for 13 years (2004-2017)\, then preparations for the European mission juice\, developing for the exploration of satellites of Jupiter and its satellites Galilean from 2030 – launch programmed in 2022-will be presented. \nCassini-Huygens’s great discoveries at Saturn and Titan\nby Jean-Pierre LEBRETON\, former head of the Huygens mission at ESA\, associate researcher\, CNRS-Université d’orléans-LPC2E\, member of the EFA \nThe American-European mission (NASA/ESA) Cassini-Huygens was launched in October 1997 from Florida by the Titan IV rocket. The Cassini-Huygens spacecraft began orbiting after 7 years of travel around Saturn on 1 July 2004. Huygens landed on the surface of Titan on January 14\, 2005. The exploration of Saturn and its natural satellites\, in particular Titan and Enceladus\, lasted 13 years. In order to preserve the future exploration of Titan and Enceladus\, two moons with an ocean of liquid water under their ice surface\, Cassini was precipitated at the end of the mission in the atmosphere of Saturn where he disintegrated on September 15\, 2017 during the “Grand finale”. \nExploration of Jupiter; The Juice mission\nby Olivier WITASSE\, Head of the Juice Project at ESA/Estec \nThe European Juice Mission (for JUpiter ICy Moon Explorer)\, selected in 2012\, is currently in the development phase for a launch scheduled for May 2022 from Kourou. The main objective of the mission will be to study from 2030 the three giant moons of Jupiter: Ganymede\, Europe and Callisto\, and in particular the oceans of liquid water that are thought to be present under their ice surface. The Juice project\, the satellite\, the instruments and its many technical\, operational and human challenges\, will be presented in detail with the help of visual animations. \n\nFree admission in the limit of available places.

SUMMARY:Managing Major projects\, feedback from experience
DESCRIPTION:Major projects always represent technical\, financial and calendar issues of importance to the States or large companies that undertake them. Even if they pose risks\, they are irreplaceable engines of innovation and economy. \nThe two academies believe that it is useful to examine the return of experience obtained on major projects passed in terms not of management methods but rather of general principles to be respected in order to avoid the financial and calendar slippages. This symposium calls on the actors in these past projects to present in a synthetic way what they perceive as the principles necessary for success on the basis of what they have experienced during their project. We will be presenting very successful projects and others who have had more difficulties. These projects come from various backgrounds\, aeronautics and space\, energy\, building and public works\, transport because we think very fruitful to cross experiences in all areas. Some have the size of real programs; Some are totally innovative\, others are more commercial. There are programs to develop a new object and others to put in place a new evolution of existing systems. Each has its own context and environment that play their part in the progress of the project. \nWe ask the speakers to avoid any language of wood. It is in no way a matter of assigning notes to the actors of the projects\, but of understanding the obstacles encountered and the solutions they propose to overcome them. \nAt the end of this symposium\, we will seek to establish a synthesis that will trace the experiences and make recommendations for future projects\, addressed both to the donors and to the directors. \nComplete program and inscription on the dedicated website: \nwww.academie-air-espace.com/grandsprojets

SUMMARY:History of wind tunnels\, future of measurements
DESCRIPTION:Aeronautics\, Automotive\, building\, sport\,… all of these sectors have in common the use of aerodynamic wind tunnels for their studies and research. For more than a hundred years\, French industry has been designing and optimizing its achievements thanks to the internationally recognised aerodynamic means that are available in France; The ONERA\, CSTB and the S2A3 economic interest group are the main players. Inseparable from experimentation\, measurement techniques and numerical modeling have progressed extraordinarily in recent decades\, leading to a revolution in the experimental approach. \nThe wind tunnels\, 100 years after Gustave Eiffel\nBy Bruno CHANETZ\, Master of research\, ONERA \nAt the dawn of the twentieth century\, the wind tunnels were imposed by allowing\, according to the happy formula of Gustave Eiffel\, to pass: from the flair of the builder to the art of the engineer. The wind tunnels\, subsonic to the origins\, then Sonic\, supersonic and hypersonic\, allowed to accompany the development of all the aircraft of the twentieth century\, planes to the rockets\, not forgetting the buildings\, the cars\,…. However\, at the end of this century\, the progress of numerical simulation linked to those of computational power\, appeared to threaten their growth. Today\, the large wind tunnels\, always very operational\, remain strategic in response to the new environmental challenges for the economic and ecological development of the French industry. \nThe aerodynamic measure\, from Pitot to the vision of the unseen\nBy Benjamin LeClaire\, Master of research\, ONERA \nIn recent decades\, the methods of measurement to characterize flows around the forms and to determine the stresses induced by the flows on them\, have evolved dramatically. This is particularly the result of technological advances in lasers and cameras\, as well as those made in automated image processing. While traditional methods such as Pitot probes are still used\, the speed and density measurement techniques of the most advanced flows are non-intrusive and rely on intense illumination and visualization of The flow to be measured\, possibly inoculated with very fine particles. These techniques then give access to quantities of information\, as well as to the fineness of structures becoming comparable with those of numerical simulation results\, which nourishes and enriches the computational-experience dialogue.

SUMMARY:Space debris: sustainability of operations
DESCRIPTION:by Christophe Bonnal\, Senior expert\, launchers Directorate at CNES\, chairman of the Commission debris of the IAA\, correspondent of the EFA \nThe massive development of space applications that we are witnessing is confronted by a number of constraints\, among which the pollution of space appears to be one of the most significant. The unbridled use of space since 1957 has spawned a population of significant orbital debris on the most widely used orbits. We will describe the current situation\, the means used to characterize this threat\, and then the dreaded events\, uncontrolled fallout on earth and collisions in orbit. The proposed\, regulatory and technical solutions will be addressed\, ranging from non-proliferation rules to future solutions for space cleaning.
