SUMMARY:Travel through a black hole with Interstellar
DESCRIPTION:By Jean-Pierre Luminet\, CNRS Emeritus Research Director\, Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille\, corresponding member of AAE \nA large part of the plot of the famous science-fiction film Interstellar (2014) features several aspects of Einstein’s theory and its extensions: wormholes\, black holes\, distortions of space and time\, string theory\, unification of physics. In this lecture\, which follows the film script step by step\, all these astrophysical themes are deciphered one by one with rigor and clarity. At the end\, or after closing J.-P. Luminet’s book\, you’ll no doubt want to watch the film again to better understand and appreciate it! \nFollowing the conference\, Jean-Pierre Luminet will be available for book signings. The Librairie de la Renaissance will also be on hand at the entrance to sell its books. \n\nFree admission in the limit of available seats. \nIn partnership with: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n[image] ©J-P Luminet

SUMMARY:Entretiens de Toulouse 2026
DESCRIPTION:This training course is organised around thematic encounters spread over 4 half-days. \nThe participant chooses: 1 Interview per half-day from the 18 discussion areas and 72 Interviews on offer\, and builds his or her own “à la carte” training program over 2 days. \nEach Talk is attended by a maximum of 25 people. One or more recognized experts present the topic of the Talk for around 30 to 45 minutes\, followed by exchanges and debates within the audience. Members of the Académie de l’Air et de l’Espace act as moderators\, ensuring the quality of the discussions. \nTo prepare these encounters\, the experts’ contributions are grouped into a book\, which is sent one month beforehand to registered participants. You can choose the Interview(s) you’d like to attend and prepare the questions you’d like to ask\, either in advance via this website or directly at the Interview. \nNo report of the discussions will be published afterwards\, in order to guarantee industrial confidentiality.

SUMMARY:Eclipsed suns\, from Concorde 001 to exoplanets
DESCRIPTION:By Pierre Léna\, astrophysicist and Professor Emeritus\, Observatoire de Paris – PSL & Université Paris Cité\, member of the Académie des sciences \nIn 1973 over Africa\, the Concorde-001 prototype\, piloted by André Turcat and flying at Mach 2 in the shadow of the Moon\, offered the nine scientists on board the longest totality of a solar eclipse: 74 minutes. Fifty years on\, the solar corona\, more easily observed from space and responsible for a new meteorology\, still raises questions. The Lyot Coronagraph\, born at Pic-du-Midi to study this corona\, now installed on the JWST telescope\, discovered a remarkable exoplanet\, while its successor will be looking for Earth’s twin sisters. \nFollowing the conference\, Pierre Léna will be available for book signings. The Librairie de la Renaissance will also be on hand at the entrance to sell its books. \n\nFree admission in the limit of available seats. \nIn partnership with: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[image] © P. SUMMARY:Expertise: how can the expert benefit from AI?
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the first two symposiums held at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace in Paris Le Bourget: “Tomorrow’s transport: which engineers for such ambitions?”\, in January 2024\, and “Agile transmission of knowledge: which methods for such an ambition?”\, in February 2025\, the organizers are delighted to invite you to a third edition: “Expertise: how can the Expert be enriched by AI?”. This event will constitute: “Le Bourget’s 3rd CEFT symposium”. It will enable us to continue addressing multiple themes around “Knowledge\, Expertise\, Training and Transmission”\, essential subjects for the future of all our industries and for the involvement of young generations entering their professional lives. \nExpertise is the intellectual capital of companies. It is essential for differentiation\, innovation and leadership. It is based on patents\, but also on the know-how of each individual\, with their experience and dexterity\, from journeymen to engineers. The most critical people in safeguarding and disseminating this knowledge are the company’s experts. \nThe arrival of Generative AI cannot be overlooked; it will bring about a major change in knowledge management within companies. Generative AIs\, open to all\, will provide a wealth of information and proposals\, particularly concerning the past and the competition. However\, within each company\, a “proprietary” AI is essential and must be put in place to protect “its” Expertise. It will be the company’s safe. \nMany questions will be addressed during this symposium: what is the structure of these proprietary AIs? How will they be built\, managed and secured? And\, most importantly\, how will Experts be intimately involved\, to enrich their businesses and pass on this knowledge to new generations? \nAs in previous years\, there will be opportunities to exchange views with representatives of the various generations and functions involved in this capitalization of knowledge for all our industries. \nRegistrations can be made on the 3AF website\, at a date and price to be specified once the final program for the day has been drawn up. \n  \nInformation & registration

SUMMARY:In the Solar Furnace: Latest Results from Solar Orbiter and Parker Solar Probe
DESCRIPTION:By Alexis Rouillard\, CNRS researcher\, IRAP and Philippe Louarn\, CNRS research director\, IRAP \nWhy is the Sun’s atmosphere two hundred times hotter than its surface? How are solar winds and thunderstorms created? To answer these big astrophysical questions\, the Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter space probes set off in 2018 and 2020 to discover the Sun’s immediate environment: the solar corona. \nAfter several years of observations\, they have highlighted\, very close to the Sun\, an extremely dynamic environment constantly disturbed by ejections of material and thus provide new clues to the formation of solar winds and storms. \nFree registration required \n\nRegistrations are closed. \n\n\n\n\n\nEn partenariat avec \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nL’AQUI-IHEDN s’associe à ce cycle de conférences\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[image] ©Missions PSPsolO

SUMMARY:The challenges facing European airports by 2050
DESCRIPTION:By Franck Goldnadel\, President of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur \nThe greening of aviation is often talked about by manufacturers and airlines\, but less so by hospitality structures\, which also have serious challenges to face. These include the airport’s technical resources\, the preparation of refuelling with new fuels\, some of which are difficult to transfer\, and the fair scheduling of flights during the day. What new rules exist? How to apply them? What investments are needed? New taxes\, why do ?… The speaker will give us as complete a picture as possible of the situation with the main achievements under way. \n\n \n Free admission (subject to availability)\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n[image] © Pixabay

SUMMARY:The DORN experiment on board the Chang'E 6 lunar mission
DESCRIPTION:Lecture presented by Pierre-Yves Meslin\, planetologist at the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie\, scientific leader of the DORN experiment. \nDORN was the first active French instrument to be deployed on the Moon’s surface\, in June 2024\, aboard the Chinese probe Chang’E 6. Its aim was to measure the concentration of radon released by lunar regolith and to study the origin and dynamics of the lunar exosphere. Following a presentation of the scientific objectives and design of this experiment\, we will look back at the various stages that marked the development of this project\, the fruit of a first collaboration between France and China in the field of space exploration. \n\n\n \n Free admission (subject to availability).\n \n \nIn partnership with: \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nPhoto credit: ©IRAP-NAOC-Junior Miranda

DESCRIPTION:By José Miguel De la Viuda Sainz\, Business Roadmap & Transformation Programs\, Airbus \nSince the appearance of the Boeing 247 in 1933\, undoubtedly the first modern passenger aircraft\, over two hundred different models of commercial aircraft have been built to date. Some models have been a resounding success\, others a mixed success\, and still others\, unfortunately\, have suffered commercial setbacks. This lecture explores the causes of these setbacks\, using some twenty examples. \n\n\n \n Free admission (subject to availability).\n \n \nIn partnership with: \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nCrédit photo : ©DR -Boeing 247

SUMMARY:Towards an exploration of the Moon that respects its environment
DESCRIPTION:By Michel BlancProfessor Emeritus\, IRAP/Université de Toulouse\, Chairman of COSPAR’s Exploration Panel\, member of AAE \nLunar exploration is the first step towards future human missions to Mars. It also has its own objectives: scientific research\, exploitation of local resources\, services for astronauts\, and perhaps even tourism. At a time of increased environmental awareness on our own planet\, space agencies and private actors\, with the help of various international organizations\, must build together\, under the auspices of the United Nations\, a balanced\, equitable and sustainable use of lunar resources that will preserve for future generations the common heritage of humanity on the Moon. \n\n \n Free registration required\n \n \n\nRegistrations are closed. \n\n\n\n\n\nEn partenariat avec \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nL’AQUI-IHEDN s’associe à ce cycle de conférences\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[image] ©PAVER team/visual:LIQUIFER

SUMMARY:Taikonauts conquer space: China's manned space program
DESCRIPTION:Lecture presented by Philippe Coué\, member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) \nChina has been planning to send its citizens into the cosmos since the start of its space program in the 1960s. But it wasn’t until the end of the twentieth century and China’s economic take-off that this goal became a reality. Today\, Chinese taikonauts occupy Earth orbit on a permanent basis\, and are preparing to walk on the Moon before the end of this decade. They will then settle there permanently to prepare the next step: Mars. \n \n\n\n \n Free admission (subject to availability)\n \n \n\n \n In partnership with:\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n [image] ©CNSA – Chinese taikonauts near the Lanyue lunar module

SUMMARY:AI\, connectivity and cybersecurity in avionics
DESCRIPTION:By Marc Gatti\, Scientific and Academic Relations Director\, Thales AVS France\, AAE correspondent \nThis presentation introduces the three key pillars of the avionics platform of the future\, and presents the associated challenges. The term “avionics platform” used here includes all the on-board systems needed for an aircraft to fly (whatever the aircraft: commercial\, fighter\, transport\, drone or flying cabins) and all the critical and less critical on-board functions needed for flight (flight control\, propulsion management)\, piloting (fuel management\, anti-icing\, TCAS\, TAWS\, etc.)\, utilities (doors and slides\, toilets\, air conditioning\, etc.)\, maintenance and connectivity. AI\, connectivity and cybersecurity in avionics are the three pillars and the main challenges we face. SUMMARY:Pollution: everything we can see\, understand and monitor from space
DESCRIPTION:By Cathy Clerbaux\, Director of Research at CNRS\, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences\, member of AAE\n \n\n The media regularly report that the state of the atmosphere is getting worse\, and that man is primarily responsible. Over the past twenty years or so\, scientists have had access to an impressive array of observations (particularly by satellite). Was the air purer before? Is France a highly polluted country? How can we tell the difference between pollutants and greenhouse gases? Does pollution “cool” the climate? In this presentation\, we’ll take a look at what satellites can tell us. \n \n[image] © D. SUMMARY:Air traffic control in Europe: the real storm
DESCRIPTION:By Marc Baumgartner\, Room Manager and Air Traffic Controller at Skyguide\, AAE member\n \n\n The impact of COVID on aviation was abysmal. Air traffic was at an all-time low. By 2024\, air traffic and flight delays had reached pre-pandemic levels\, prompting numerous complaints from airlines. Why is air traffic control unable to overcome bottlenecks\, despite 20 years of Single European Sky reform? What reforms could help improve the overall performance of Europe’s air traffic management system? \n \n\n \n [image] \n \n © Chicago Times\n \n\n\n Free admission (subject to availability)\n \n\n \n In partnership with:

SUMMARY:Agile knowledge transfer: what methods for such an ambition?
DESCRIPTION:After the success of the first symposium held at the Air Museum in Le Bourget in January 2024: “The transport of tomorrow\, which engineers for such ambitions?”\, the organizers are very pleased to invite you to a second edition: \n\n AGILE KNOWLEDGE TRANSMISSION: WHAT METHODS FOR SUCH AN AMBITION?\n \nWe look forward to seeing you at the Air and Space Museum in Le Bourget on February 6\, 2025. (Event in French language only) Save this date on your calendar and let your friends and colleagues know: students\, teachers\, researchers\, industrialists\, HR\, etc. They are all concerned\, regardless of the sector of their industry. \nThis event will thus constitute: “The 2nd KETT symposium at Le Bourget” \nIt will allow us to continue to deal with multiple themes around “Knowledge\, Expertise\, Training and Transmission”\, subjects that are essential for the future of our industries and the involvement of the younger generations arriving in their professional lives. \nMany questions will be addressed: what should be kept (successes and failures)? What media should be used (man and/or machine)? What will be the effects of AI? How can we dialogue between generations? How can we optimize exchanges between engineers\, technicians and journeymen? … not to mention the initial training which constitutes the first transmission of knowledge; Is it agile? \nMoments of exchange will allow the expression of the points of view of the representatives of the various generations\, of the multiple functions involved in this chain of transmission and for various industries.

SUMMARY:AI and training: from university to the professional world
DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence is now present at every step of our lives; every action\, every device involves AI. However\, there are many mysteries surrounding these two letters AI. According to some\, they will change our lives; for others\, they should be viewed with great caution. Whatever the case\, this new “tool” must be integrated into our training\, and young people have clearly highlighted some of the advantages of using it: getting AI to do their homework! All very well\, but is it effective for their training? \nTeachers responsible for training the next generation must adapt to this tool by changing their pedagogical approaches to take advantage of it\, while making clear the risks of using it without a strong critical eye for the answers provided. The introduction of AI into companies is leading to complementary actions for Lifelong Learning (LLL). Our two experts will discuss these two stages of training. \nAfternoon lectures: \n\n“The use of AI in initial studies: speeding up the transition to make it progress” by Laurent SIMON\, Professor Bordeaux INP\, Chair holder IA Digne de Confiance\, Director of the ENSEIRB-MATMECA computer science department.\n“AI in the enterprise: from information to training” by Juliette MATTIOLI\, Expert Fellow in AI\, Thales\n\n\n\n Free admission in the limit of available seats.\n \n\n or to follow live on the Youtube channel of the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie

SUMMARY:Will we reach for the stars?
DESCRIPTION:Conference as part of the “Scroll!” 2025 Festival organized by Toulouse Metropole.\n \n\n By Roland Lehoucq\, astrophysicist at CEA Saclay\n \n\n Space travel is a favorite theme in science fiction. Some films\, like Star Wars or Star Trek\, feature fabulous spaceships that take you from planet to planet like a bus. Others\, like Avatar\, show more plausible spaceships. They all make us dream\, even if we know that interstellar travel is a long way off. So what’s basically stopping us from traveling to the stars? \n \n\n After the conference\, Roland Lehoucq will be available for book signings. The Librairie de la Renaissance will be present at the entrance to the conference\, selling Roland Lehoucq’s books. \n \n[image] © Adobe stock (generated by AI) \n\n\n \n Free admission (subject to availability)\n \n \n\n \n In partnership with:

SUMMARY:Concorde: will it mark the apogee of air transport as a means of rapid travel?
DESCRIPTION:Conference organized by 3AF Midi-Pyrénées in partnership with the Académie de l’air et de l’espace and in collaboration with the Aérothèque.\n \n \n\n Presented by Guy DESTARAC\, head of the 3AF Midi-Pyrénées heritage working group\n \n\n This talk will retrace the genesis of the program in the context of the times: air transport was engaged in the race for speed\, and competition between American\, European and Russian manufacturers was in full swing. During its development\, the changed global context made it difficult to implement\, following the disappearance of competitors and the emergence of more stringent requirements. Nevertheless\, it was operated for 25 years\, mainly between Paris\, London and New York. We’ll be talking about the next steps envisaged by its manufacturers in the 1990s\, and about recent work to develop more economical aircraft\, more acceptable in terms of supersonic flight\, and within the framework of low-carbon aviation. But will society always accept that considerable resources should be spent for the benefit of a few\, however wealthy they may be? \n \n\n\n Free admission (subject to availability).\n \n \nIn partnership with \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n[image] ©3AF MP
