SUMMARY:SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuels): potential and limitations of a key solution for the decarbonisation of aviation
DESCRIPTION:By Nicolas Jeuland\, Emeritus Expert on the Environmental Impact of Aviation and Future Fuels\, Safran\, AAE correspondent (lecture in french) \nThe aviation industry is committed to carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve this\, the aviation industry is working on 3 main levers: the constant improvement of the fleet’s energy efficiency\, in particular through the development of ultra-efficient aircraft\, the optimization of operations (in flight\, but also on the ground) and the substitution of fossil fuels by low-carbon solutions. In the latter category\, SAFs (Sustainable Aviation Fuels) or CADs (Sustainable Aviation Fuels) have a crucial role to play as they enable an immediate decarbonisation of existing and future fleets. This conference aims to take stock of these fuels (types\, resources used\, production processes). In particular\, the development will be discussed\, highlighting the potential of these sectors\, but also their limits (availability of the resource\, cost). Finally\, the mechanisms to support the development of these sectors will be discussed. \n\n [Crédit image] ©Safran\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Free registration required before September 11\, 2024\n \n \n \n\n Registrations are closed. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Conference organized as part of the National Engineering Days 2024 (JNI)\n \n \n\n \n In partnership with:\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n AQUI-IHEDN is associated with this series of conferences\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New publication!\n \n \n\n \n \n Avis N°20 : Vers un transport aérien décarboné\n \n \n \nLe transport aérien est mondial : il a permis un incroyable essor des relations entre les peuples. SUMMARY:Flight tests: the reception crew
DESCRIPTION:The job of test pilot is a “small job”. There must be fewer than a hundred active test pilots in France. Some work for the state\, within DGA EV\, others for manufacturers: Airbus\, Dassault\, Daher. \nOf course\, it is a question of trying prototypes that have never flown\, but also derived\, modified or new configurations. But a test pilot also has other important tasks\, such as defining the systems\, in conjunction with the design offices. In practice\, he always has a team and the main pair is the INE: Engineer Navigant d’Essais. The role of this pair is to understand\, explain and translate into technical terms the elements felt in flight during the tests and to contribute\, during discussions with the program engineers of the design office\, to find the right technical solution\, to test it in flight\, etc. The test pilot is responsible for important customer relations or promotion to potential future customers. \nAfternoon of conferences with: \n\n\nRotary wing tester : X3\, Racer\, …presented by Dominique FOURNIER\, Flight Test Engineer\, Airbus Helicopters \n\n30 years of flight tests on both military and civil aircraftpresented by Yves KERHERVÉformer Dassault Aviation test pilot\, AAE member\n\n\nFree admission in the limit of available seats. \nor to follow live on the Youtube channel of the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie

SUMMARY:In the Solar Furnace: Latest Results from Solar Orbiter and Parker Solar Probe
DESCRIPTION:By Alexis Rouillard\, CNRS researcher\, IRAP \nWhy is the Sun’s atmosphere two hundred times hotter than its surface? How are solar winds and thunderstorms created? To answer these major questions in astrophysics\, the Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter space probes set out in 2018 and 2020 to discover the environment close to the Sun: the solar corona. After several years of observations\, they have highlighted\, very close to the Sun\, an extremely dynamic environment constantly disturbed by ejections of material and thus provide new clues to the formation of solar winds and storms. \n \n\nFree admission in the limit of available seats. \nIn partnership with: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[image] ©Ascendance
