SUMMARY:The lightest air is soaring to new horizons
DESCRIPTION:Lighter than Air has an ancient origin and various applications are well known\, but with little development. Multiple reasons lead to propose\, today\, new commercial achievements; what are these new features and for which projects?\n \n\n For scientific balloons\, CNES with its balloon systems and the CNRS\, with its instruments\, position France as a world leader\, alongside the United States in this field. Each year\, CNES organizes flight campaigns at different latitudes in the stratosphere up to 40 km altitude for the study of the atmosphere and astronomy. What are the technical advances and scientific missions carried out?\n \n\n\nNew prospects for airships\n\nby Pascal TAILLANDIER\, head of captive and airship balloon projects at ONERA \n\n\nStratospheric balloons for science and technology\nby Vincent DUBOURG\, Deputy Balloons Director at CNES \n\n\nAdmission is free\, subject to availability. \n(Health pass is mandatory) \nThe conference will also be broadcast live on the Youtube channel of the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie \n\nIn partnership with

SUMMARY:The viability of small electric air vehicles
DESCRIPTION:By André Bord\, former Chief Engineer A320\, Airbus\, former Technical Director ATR\, member of the AAE \nThe use of electric energy sources deemed “green” for the propulsion of air vehicles seems\, for a long time\, reserved for small vehicles meeting the needs of intra-urban transport\, such as air taxis. The analysis of the state of the art and the perspectives of electrical energy storage allows us to evaluate the specific properties\, in particular\, in terms of energy and power. The analysis of the energy and power needs as well as the characteristics of the vehicles that can meet the specifications of these vehicles as well as those of the multiple projects proposed helps to clarify their technical viability\, and their ecological and economic interest. Will the electric fairy fly? \n              \nImage credit: airbus-Airbus City © \n\nFree admission (without registration). Warning\, the health pass will be requested at the entrance. \nThe conference will be accessible remotely. Registration required in order to receive login information \n\nRegister to attend the conference remotely: \nOops! We could not locate your form.
