SUMMARY:European Launch Vehicles and New Space
DESCRIPTION:Event (in Spanish) organized by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio (ETSIAE) and the Air and Space Academy (AAE). With support from AEE\, TEDAE\, and AIAE  \n\nPresentation of Dossier 56\, “Seven Recommendations to Secure the Future of European Launchers.” The ESA Ministerial Council\, which met in Seville in November 2023\, convened without its launchers being available\, due to the delay of Ariane 6 and problems encountered by Vega-C. ESA chose to turn this obstacle into an opportunity by launching a competition among European small-launcher projects—the European Launcher Challenge (ELC)—to foster innovation\, boost competitiveness\, and prepare the next generation of launchers. In the second half of 2024\, significant progress was made\, with the successful first launch of Ariane 6 and two flights of Vega and Vega-C. DESCRIPTION:By Thierry Fusco\, Research Director\, Scientific Assistant\, Optics Department\, ONERA \nAdaptive optics has revolutionized high-resolution imaging by compensating in real time for the adverse effects of atmospheric turbulence. Now a key component of giant telescopes\, this multi-disciplinary technology enables us to explore the universe with unprecedented image quality\, monitor our immediate surroundings and focus laser beams at very great distances.
