By Michel-Aimé Hancart, former technical director at Eurocopter, member of the AAE.
With an extreme variety of configurations, the helicopter has been able to adapt for seventy-five years to all types of spot landing and flight missions near terrain that the aircraft cannot satisfy. From the lightest to the heaviest, several design variants coexist today to optimize operational response to the various mission requirements that are constantly increasing. However, its architecture is far from fixed and the search for continuous performance improvement associated with environmental impact reduction paves the way for new rotary-wing aircraft formulas.
