3D printing a challenge for aeronautics

Today, additive manufacturing is used industrially for parts that are still relatively simple, replacing conventional parts. Tomorrow, it will make more complex parts possible, benefiting from mass and cost reductions. To achieve this, challenges will have to be met to transform design and production practices.

A session (in French) proposed by the Academy of Air and Space , broadcast live on the City of Science’s YouTube channel, on March 18, 2021, with:

  • Frédéric Laithier, Head of the Laboratory “Chemistry Materials, Expertise and Non Destructive Evaluations of Ariane Group;
  • Anne Thenaisie, director of Safran Tech’s Safran Additive Manufacturing platform.
